Rockford Chimney Supply is a family-owned ecommerce business that sells premium American-made stainless steel chimney liners, chimney caps, chimney supplies, and a wide range of other hearth products.
Our Challenge
TM maintained Rockford Chimney Supply’s previous ecommerce website for several months, but it was a coding disaster. Rockford eventually decided to have TM rebuild it and get the job done right.
The new website needed to exude the same look and feel but offer a better user experience. Their previous website had a lot of functionalities that Rockford didn’t want to part with, like their quick quote calculator and request a quote feature.

Our Solution
TM migrated all of Rockford's existing products & content to Magento 2. We then made adjustments to the catalog’s hierarchy to remove overlapping & redundant product categories. This makes it easier for customers to find what they are looking for.
TM also migrated the existing custom code & functionality that were the backbone of Rockford's ordering process by building custom modules for each feature. This removed duplicate code, which is hard to maintain (see technical debt). All of these components are now reusable, extendable, and offer a consistent user experience.
There were dozens of variables TM had to take into account. Every chimney is different; making some orders more complex than others. We made this complexity more transparent by creating a guided shopping experience. This helps “Do It Yourself-ers” order the correct products without having every piece of industry-specific knowledge.
Not only does this site look and feel beautiful, but its function is far more useful to users.

Rockford knows chimneys like the back of their hand, but their customers aren't always as knowledged. To make building a chimney a little easier for Rockford's customers, the site offers a guided shopping experience that bundles items that are commonly purchased together.
