Social Media Ads’ Opening Icebreaker

    • Which of the following social media sites does NOT have its own advertising platform – Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, or Snapchat?
      Answer: Instagram does not have its own advertising platform because it is owned and managed through Facebook’s Business Manager. Instagram ads are created and published through Facebook’s platform.
    • What are the 3 campaign types you can run on Facebook?
      Answer: Awareness, Consideration, and Conversion are the three campaign types that advertisers and marketers can run on Facebook. These are three broad campaign types but can be easily modified to help you reach your objectives and goals.
    • What are UTM parameters and why should advertisers use them?
      Answer: UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) parameters are tracking links to add to your links for social media, advertising, newsletters, and more. They help track what source your audience is viewing the page from. Some elements include the website URL, campaign source, campaign medium, campaign name, and more. For example, creating UTM parameters for social media would look like We use Google’s Campaign URL builder tool to accurately build our UTM parameters. Once these links go live, they can be easily tracked within your website’s Google Analytics and Search Console platforms. This also provides specific details on the platforms you receive clicks from.

When creating digital advertisements, there are a few campaign set-up steps that you have to take before creating ads and seeing the fruits of marketing labor. First is to choose an objective for the campaign. The goals can range from:

Google Ads

With Google Search and Display ads, here are some tips & tricks to display your ads to your right audience:

    • Give your ads ample time to run. Google recommends running a campaign for at least 7 days to gain insights and accurate information to compile data. 
    • Conduct keyword research before writing your copy.
    • Start your campaign with broad targeting, then narrow down once the learning phase has ended, which is within the first half of the campaign’s starting period. 

Facebook & Instagram Advertising

When you build a Facebook Advertising campaign, here are some tips & tricks to creating and managing Facebook and Instagram ads:

  • Try experimenting with Facebook’s dynamic ads and video creation tools to increase the audience’s engagement rates.
  • Create a custom audience to help reach your audience better within these platforms.
  • Use your existing customer data to create a lookalike audience, which can retarget to your past customers.
  • Use vertical images for Instagram ads to place on the Instagram Story feature as well.
  • Do not include text in your images – ads will be rejected or disapproved because of this. Focus the copy within the provided text fields.
